About Ride Republic
Ride Republic is part of the Old Beechworth Gaol and offers E-MTB adventures that harness the natural beauty, unique villages, passionate people and top notch cycling experiences available from Beechworth.
We opened for business in 2018, offering E-MTB hire and guided tours on a selection of curated routes on the backroads around town. The opening of the Beechworth-Yackandandah Rail Trail Extension in 2021 and the Indigo Epic MTB trail in March 2023 has seen us adjust our suggested routes to use these fantastic local assets. They are truly a superb cycling experience for everyone.
Our home - the old Gaol - has become a hub for visitors to town, with daily guided tours through the Gaol's buildings and cells, a popular cafe and a great sunny courtyard within the high granite walls. Some of the original buildings are now repurposed into workspaces and the Gaol site is once again full of life each day. A different kind of life, though, where freedom is the name of the game!
About the region
In our little pocket of North East Victoria there is a dramatic landscape of meandering forest streams, valleys lined with eucalypts and looming hillsides. It is a region rich in indigenous history and has remained one of Australia’s most pristine natural environments. Beechworth has long been a playground for adventure seekers, campers, hikers and nature lovers, but it is cycling that the region is fast becoming known for.
In the broader region there are villages scattered from the foothills to the peaks of the Great Dividing Range. Each of the villages offer a truly unique cycling experience. The jewels in the crown are the goldrush-era villages of Beechworth and Yackandandah, now thriving rural towns thanks to their world class food, wine and beer producers and the postcard-perfect streetscapes.
